I see clients in London at TR, in my practice in Hook Norton and online.

About couple therapy

The focus of couple therapy is to provide a safe, non-judgmental, confidential and supportive space where you and your partner can better understand yourselves, each other and your relationship.

Our early experiences have an impact on our development and the way we attach and relate to others. Being in a couple relationship can put us back in touch with difficult emotions that we struggle to understand, or put into words. As a result, we can repeat unhelpful patterns which prevent us from leading the life we want.

Identifying and understanding these patterns through dialogue can help you work through difficulties, and instigate positive change in your relationship.

My approach

My approach is guided by psychodynamic thinking and attachment theory, but I offer a personalised care to every client. For some, a focus on past events is crucial. For others, the focus will remain primarily on the here and now. Sessions can be tailored to your unique needs and goals, allowing for a customised therapeutic experience.

I offer a safe, confidential and compassionate space where you can feel heard and supported. At times I might challenge you, notice interesting patterns or seek to make sense of something you have shared at a deeper level.

Therapy is a stimulating, sometimes challenging, and ultimately rewarding journey which we embark on together. Rather than spoon feed you short term solutions, it will help you find your own long-term answers, and reconnect with yourself and with others.

Examples of couple issues that we can address

Communication difficulties
Making sense of repeating arguments leading to communication breakdowns, frustrations and resentment.

Affairs and infidelity
Exploring feelings of betrayals, anger, shame and the loss of trust in the relationship.

Divorce and separation
Understanding where you are, how you got there and exploring the possibility of separation. Navigating the process and the impact on children.

Sexual intimacy
Sexual intimacy is or has become an issue.

Life transitions
Navigating changes such as becoming parents, unemployment, retirement, children leaving the nest but also processing difficulties such as bereavement, perinatal loss or relationship breakdowns.

Parenting
Fertility issues, hesitation of disagreement as to whether to start a family, conflicting views on parenting or step-parenting.
